中山恒明記念館
中山恒明記念館の全体のプランニングから始まり、パネルや映像、ディスプレイ、デジタルコンテンツのインターフェースデザインまですべてを担当させて頂きました。
中山恒明先生は「神の手を持つ世紀の外科医」と称され、20世紀前半に画期的な手術法を次々と生み出し、それまでほとんど成功しなかった胃がんや大腸がんの手術を成功させるなど、外科医療に多大な貢献をしました。また、常に患者を第一に考え、自ら開発した技術を惜しみなく公開することで、指導者としても多くの優秀な外科医を育てました。中山先生の名声は世界中に広がり、多くの外科医が学びに来日しました。また、先生自身も海外で積極的に啓蒙活動を行い、まだ海外での活動が少なかった時代に先駆けて国際的に活躍されました。
この記念館は中山先生の業績を讃えるため、先生の最後のお弟子さんである山本院長が宇都宮記念病院に就任されたことを機に開設されました。中山先生自ら開発された手術道具や、当時の手術の様子を収めた映像、また、アメリカの雑誌「ライフ」に取材された際に撮影されたクオリティ高い写真、海外で表彰された美しい賞状なども数多く残されており、先生が世界中に与えた影響を一目で感じられるよう、そして多くの人に慕われた中山先生のその熱い人柄と情熱が伝わるよう、展示内容を企画し表現しました。

I was responsible for the overall planning of the Koumei Nakayama Memorial Museum, as well as the design of all panels, videos, displays, and digital content interfaces.
Dr. Koumei Nakayama, known as "the century's surgeon with the hands of God," pioneered groundbreaking surgical techniques in the first half of the 20th century. He successfully performed surgeries for stomach and colorectal cancers, which had previously seen very few successes, making significant contributions to surgical medicine. He always put patients first and generously shared his self-developed techniques, mentoring many excellent surgeons. Dr. Nakayama's reputation spread worldwide, attracting many surgeons to Japan to learn from him. Additionally, he actively engaged in educational activities abroad, becoming one of the first Japanese surgeons to work internationally during a time when such opportunities were rare.
The memorial hall was established to honor Dr. Nakayama's achievements when his last disciple, Dr. Yamamoto, became the director of Utsunomiya Memorial Hospital. The hall features surgical tools developed by Dr. Nakayama, videos of surgeries from that era, high-quality photographs taken during an interview with Life magazine, and numerous international awards. These exhibits were designed to convey the global impact Dr. Nakayama had and to reflect his passionate and warm personality.
